New Covenant Student Ministries

NCSM is the student ministry of New Covenant, serving middle school, high school and college-age students. Students in NCSM are learning about God, growing in their faith, and serving others together. Come join us!
NCSM meets on Sundays & Wednesdays.

Meet Laura & Richard.

Laura, along with her husband, Richard serve as the student pastors for New Covenant. Laura has been a part of New Covenant since the very beginning, having watched her parents as they started the church. As student pastor, Laura works to create an environment where students can grow in their faith, find community, and serve others.
Laura holds a B.S in Political Science from Charleston Southern University and a Masters of Education in Elementary Education from the College of Charleston. Before joining New Covenant’s staff, she worked as an elementary school teacher and a literary coach in several area high schools for Trident Technical College. It is the honor of her life to lead the fantastic students and incredible youth leaders in NCSM. Laura and Richard, along with their daughter, Norah, and their dog, Snips, live in West Ashley.

Frequently Asked Questions

NCSM is for students in grades 6 – 12 and also for college-aged students and young adults. NCSM is for students who feel strong in their faith and for students who aren’t so sure about church or Jesus. There is a place for everyone here.

NCSM meets at different times throughout the week.
Middle school students meet every Sunday during both services. They are dismissed from the sanctuary after worship.
High school students meet every 2nd and 4th Sunday during service. They are also dismissed from the sanctuary after worship.
NCSM also meets in the main sanctuary on Wednesday nights at 7 pm for our Midweek Youth Service. Doors open at 6pm every Wednesday night.
The goal of NCSM is to create a space for students to develop their faith, find community with other followers of Christ, and have fun. On Sundays, middle and high school students can expect relevant lessons and discussions, plus time to ask questions and talk through issues they are experiencing.
On Wednesday nights, students can expect to have time to hang out with each other, worship led by our NCSM Band, and a message created just for them.

Laura and Richard Elsey are the youth pastors, but NCSM has a fantastic group of volunteer leaders. All leaders are background checked and want to make NCSM a welcoming place for your student to learn more about Jesus. You can reach Laura by email (laura@newcovenantcog.com).
